How Do I Get Food?

Eligibility

  • Our patrons come from the surrounding area of our church home at 2727 Crawford in Northwest Evanston (Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette, Chicago, and other suburbs).
  • They come from the ranks of the chronically poor, those who are under employed, and those who are finding themselves in need for the first time.
  • We do not have income or residency limitations.
  • Anyone is welcome.
  • Patrons are allowed to come once a week.

Registration

We are a member agency of the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and required to keep records. When a person comes for the first time, our hospitality team asks them to complete a registration form. We ask for their name, address, phone, and birth date and how many are in their family. We do ask for identification, such as a driver’s license.

There are no requirements to receiving food. Once they have registered for the first time they are put into our database. Each time they come all they do is present their identification. We double check each time to make sure that their address or number of family members is the same or if there is a change.

Sometimes the number of people changes, such as when a grandparent includes children and grandchildren.

The information we collect is kept private and and is required by GCFD. We don’t share it with anyone. It is not sold.
